A little about Mrs. Skidmore:
I moved to Raleigh when I was 9 years old with my family. Before that, we lived in a small town in Ohio near Cleveland. I attended East Carolina University (Go Pirates!), and am very proud to be a part of the Weatherstone family. This is my sixth year teaching at Weatherstone; I taught 2nd Grade for 3 years before switching to 1st Grade. I am thrilled about being able to work with your children, and you, through this school year.
My husband, Cody, and I were married in 2015. Shortly after, we adopted a puppy named Sophie. Our son, Paul, was born in February 2017. In my spare time, I enjoy spending quality time with my parents and friends. I enjoy many different types of crafting activities from cross-stitch to scrap-booking. I also enjoy cooking, baking, and watching old movies. I am an avid Disney fan (as you can tell from my website and my classroom) and I like to spread a little Disney magic when I can. As a sign in my classroom states, my classroom "runs on love, laughter, Disney and lots of Starbucks."
I firmly believe in a student based environment that focuses on positive reinforcement. I love to see my students being good and doing as they are asked, and I will reward them for that behavior. My goal is to get my students prepared for their future by empowering them with the 21st century skills and knowledge they will need to be academic super stars!
I am always available via email ([email protected]) should you have any questions or concerns. Please do not hesitate to contact me should you have questions or if you feel the need for a conference. Your children are my priority.
Be sure to follow me on Twitter for a sneak peek into your child's day in the classroom! @MrsSkidmoreWES
